Stay in comfort, whatever your preferred travel style. With 60 beds spread across private rooms and spacious shared dorms with 6-8 beds, The Fort is flexible enough to accommodate large groups yet always be considerate of solo travellers. Our themed rooms are inspired by York’s cultural past and its creative underbelly, breaking away from the bland canvases of other budget stays.
May Chung, a multimedia design graduate, has stamped her identity within The Fort by creating a room showcasing her love for illustration.
The room combines the three themes of graffiti, nature and science through her marine inspired characters which add real boldness & depth to this space.
A contemporary collage of York city imagery is the basis for Mark Brear’s design who is an interior architecture graduate.
The focus of this room is the full scale b&w photography inspired wall which is representative of sites and scenes from around the city and adds the modern vibe within this space.
Creative digital media graduate, Andrew Norton, infused part of historic York’s identity into his room by creating a 360 degree landscape focussing on the iconic castle walkway imagery.
The resultant space has a calming effect on the visitor when interacting within the environment.
Apple technology is the focal theme incorporated into media technology and production student Matt Sypien’s UV light showpiece.
The utilisation of ultra violet lighting combined with engaging painted geometric shape visuals allow the room to take on two very different identities and truly comes to life when the ‘conventional lights’ are off.
